‘Tis the season for layers upon layers and with the changes in weather comes new challenges in how to dress with brilliance not bulk. Remember that not every layer needs to be warm standing-alone, that’s what jackets, gloves and scarves are for! This featured sleeveless dress may expose bare arms, but its wooly and thick texture lends a great body base layer. For mild Winters, pairing it with tights, a lined leather jacket and cashmere scarf do just the trick and still show off that adorable waistline. For harsh Winters, layer a silk blouse under the dress for extra warmth. A taller boot with thick cable knit socks and a long parka jacket with fur trim and leather gloves will keep you warm and looking chic. Mix different textures into your look, don’t forget silk, finer cashmeres, and lace to feminize and slim down your winterized ensemble. You’re now ready to brave the elements in-style.

We’re taking notes on Fall’s most wearable trends. Here’s a little cheat sheet to help you pass through Fall with flying colors. Trend #1. The Blouse: Contrasting collars and bow-ties, it’s all about embellishment for The Blouse of 2012. Trend #2. Leather Detail: Find subtle leather details on waistbands, collars, and sleeves to give edge to classics like this featured pencil skirt. Trend #3. Anything Red: That’s right, red is the color of the season. Choose shades of crimson or oxblood for a look that’s sharp and dramatic. Now that you’ve noted these three key points, you’re headed down the road to style success.

It’s the return of the pant, and we couldn’t be more excited about this season’s hottest trouser trends. While dresses and skirts are still a women’s wear staple, pants have made their way into the evening circuit. Adorned with sequins, made of leather, or flowing in silk, the pants option is one for ahead-of-the-curve fashionistas who aren’t afraid to step away from what’s expected. The featured classic pleat trousers are updated in a jewel tone green and faux leather detail that can be paired with a tuxedo jacket for night. So for that next big event, make sure not to forget about our trusty and revived two-legged friends.

Street Talk

Posted on October 15, 2012 by House of Lolo

The streets this Fall are buzzing with layered looks that are just as street-chic as they are street-smart. Starting with the graphic tee, we have the perfect base layer that goes well under sweaters, vests, and jackets. Whether adorned with words or objects, your graphic tee will do all the talking. Skinny jeans are our favorite bottom layer to pair under knee highs and booties, and their lean silhouette is perfect under those oversized coats. While a basic blue denim is always in season, fun patterns, textures and coatings are a fun way to break away from the norm. Now on to the most important layer of the season, the jacket. Whether you prefer wool, leather, fur, or tweed, the jacket is going to make the most statement for your look this Fall. The featured Parker tweed jacket is a sporty take on the classic style, adding edge appeal and texture. Just add some leather gloves and a cashmere scarf for those extra chilly days, remember its all about layers! Now with these Fall fashion notes, you’ll definitely earn some serious street style cred.
