From sequins and studs to neck ties in contrasting fabrics, this season is all about neckline embellishment. It’s the ladylike approach to bring a statement to any look, and while you can find many blouses and dresses out there with attached embellished collars, you can also buy them separately, to bring a little pizzaz to last season’s favorites. So leave the jewelry behind and let the bold and bedazzled blouse of 2012 take the spotlight.

The androgynous trend has been evolving in women’s fashion, and this season we are seeing dandy men’s tailored suits and boyish newsboy caps. There are many ways to incorporate these masculine elements into your Fall wardrobe and still feel sexy. As seen here, we take a subtle approach pairing a preppy collared blouse under a comfy casual sweatshirt and slouchy cropped trousers. Adding femininity in the details is key, like the ruching up the side of the trouser which shows off your leg and looks great with heels, or the heart detail in the sweatshirt which adds a girlish (and edgy) detail. We don’t suggest borrowing from your boyfriend’s closet, but take note, as mixing feminine and masculine elements is 2012′s recipe for seduction.

Whether you’re the studious type or not, school girl style is a sharp look this Fall. From oxford collars to pleated minis, this look can go from nerdy and innocent to sexy and rebellious with the switch of a few key elements. Pair your shortest skirts with thigh-high socks and a leather moto for a school-girls-gone-bad vibe. Or you can take the ladylike approach with a longer hemline and peter pan collar. So study up on good girl Sandy’s retro sweet look and take cue from Clueless’ rich-girl prep style and you’ll be head of your class.

The color red is making a bold statement this Fall, and hogging all of the attention from fashionistas everywhere. Red is a color that screams glamour and sex appeal, so what better way to incorporate it into your wardrobe than with a Little RED Dress (LRD). Keep it short and simple, with a relaxed or structured fit. It doesn’t matter whether you don shades of scarlet or burgundy, you’ll be sure to be a show-stopper. Not to make black jealous, but red just knows how to bring the drama this season, in a fabulous and risk-free way.

With Fall just around the corner, you’ll be sure to see many shades of grey in the form of leather, silk, and wool filling the racks. A monochromatic ensemble can look classic and elegant or tone down Fall’s brighter hues with this neutral staple. We’ve paired two of Fall’s biggest trends, leather and reptile print, to create a beautiful balance of feminine and edge. There’s a shade of grey out there for everyone, so play around with texture and sheen and you’ll get a result that is anything but dull and boring.
