We can’t deny that cooler days are just around the corner, but for those of us not willing to say goodbye to summer just yet there are a few tricks of the trade to help maximize our warm weather essentials. Keep your color palette neutral; layering earth tones in different textures and silhouettes offers dimension and style without clinging to any one season’s hottest hues. Get creative with your combinations; graphic tee’s are a summer staple, try upgrading the predictable denim cut off pairing to a breezy maxi skirt instead; flowing pleats and a muddy shade lend romance and warmth to your ensemble. Mix and match accessories; rock your open toe wedges (weather permitting) and a wide brimmed hat in a spiced autumn tone for a subtle seasonal hint. Let’s recap: Go back to basics with color choice and let fabric and form do the talking. Couple unexpected pieces like cardigans and cutoffs or elegant skirts and casual tees. Balance your accessories by incorporating a little of each season; silk scarves, rich and rustic leather belts, and trendy head toppers. The point is not to leap too quickly, ease into the season for an ultra chic transitional technique!

Pretty in Pleats

{Parker Pleat Back Top, Finders Keepers One Step Away Skirt, Lodis Croc Leather Skinny Belt, Coatt Morse Coded Necklace}

The Spring runways were filled with pretty pleats, from dresses to skirts to even tops, and they’re not going anywhere this Fall. Pleats have come a long way in the fashion world, coming from boxy and ill-fitting to chic and flattering. They add volume without adding bulk, but what we love about pleats most, is the way they move. Transition your spring pleated skirt to Fall with a cropped sweater or better yet, add on more pleats,  with this Parker houndstooth back pleated blouse. So go get your pleat on, jump on the dance floor, and do your happy dance.

Power Dressing

{Black Halo Luke Mini in black}

Black Halo impresses us once again with their craftsmanship and style, and this time with an attitude to boot. The bold shoulder adds a dramatic effect while the narrow fitted bodice keeps it feminine. Wear to the office with tights or make it a night-out number with tousled hair and smokey makeup. No accessories needed, other than a killer shoe and clutch, this dress speaks all for itself, and it speaks with confidence.

{Elizabeth & James Whitney Blouse, Genetic Denim Shane Cigarette in Lake, CC Skye Longboard Clutch, Liz Larios Snake Necklace}

When it comes to great style, its all genetic, Genetic Denim that is. This premium, luxury, and vintage denim label certainly wins the popularity contest, creating the softest and best fitting jeans around. They understand that each person is unique, as they celebrate individuality with different cuts made specifically for different body types, like how the Shane cigarette hugs every contour of the female figure, the Raquel is perfect for petites, and the Stem is made for hourglass figures. Whatever your shape, you don’t have to be the typical cookie cutter mold to look fabulous in a pair of Genetics. We can’t choose our genes, but we can choose our jeans, so fall in love with the denim label that loves every body.
