Decade Dressing

“Everything old will be new again” is one of many fashion mantra’s, and thanks to the resurgence of this vintage inspired trend in the media (ie the madmen craze) it is no wonder why the flirty fashions of the 50′s and 60′s are making their mark, yet again, in a very big way. The look, coy yet confident, is mastered by body conscious silhouettes that celebrate femininity. This LBD does just that with a fitted bodice and a perfectly playful skirt to flatter any woman’s figure. Structurally sophisticated with girlish undertones executed in the eyelet detail, this dress is a home-re-run! Play with both past and present when completing the look. Channel your inner Brigitte Bardot with pin-up inspired hair and make-up, then add a modern touch with leather booties and a currently chic clutch! The point is to let your interpretation of this elegant era shine through, and of course garner the attention of all the Don Drapers out there…

UltraViolet

Here comes the sun…and ultra-violet is in full force. This Summer brings an array of colors to assist you in assembling the perfect sunny day wardrobe- and the cool tones of blues and purples are no exception. For those of you who are shy about standing out in a crowd, pair your pop of color with a simple basic in a neutral color. A sleek knit black pencil skirt can give any top sophistication and will keep your look from spilling over-the-top with color (although we never said there was anything wrong with that). Give your silk blouses a cool new casual attitude by  knotting them to one side or tying the front hem tails together at your natural waist. This styling trick will also give you instant waist definition! So get out there, stay cool, and embrace the spectrum of colors that Summer has to offer.

With Summer just around the corner it’s time to bust out warm weather trademarks, but before we get cozy in our cutoffs and tanks let’s try to combat the heat with a bright and breezy frock for a refreshing twist on Summer style. This romantically beachy statement, with it’s punchy neapolitan stripes, goes hand in hand with easy going sandals and a noteworthy yet nonchalant fedora. Polish off this 60′s inspired weightless shift with an oversized tote fit for the hampton’s and you’ve got an unblemished ensemble cool enough for any summer sizzle.

Whether or not we’d like to admit it we are all creatures of habit. What we don’t realize is the detrimental impact its having on our closet! While it does put our mind at ease knowing the sea of tried and true ladylike frocks that wait patiently behind those doors to be routinely reunited with our pearls and up-dos. Learn to let your hair down, break the rules, put together unexpected pairings, and I promise… oh the places you’ll go!  Rock a rustic leather jacket and a little diva inspired sparkle to combat the monotony and inject a LWD with exquisite yet unforeseen style. Expand your habitual wardrobe horizon, sit back and enjoy the abundance of fresh new options at your disposal. Savvy, clever, and all YOU!
